bamboo salt

What is Bamboo Salt & Why It's So Valuable

Bamboo salt (Korean: Jukyeom) is sea or rock salt packed into bamboo, sealed with clay, and roasted at high temperatures multiple times (3x, 6x, or 9x).

The 9x roasted bamboo salt is considered medicinal-grade and very high value in India it can sell for ₹2,000-₹7,000+ per 250g, especially in Ayurvedic, Korean, and premium wellness markets.
How to Manufacture Bamboo Salt (Desi Version)

Materials Required:

* Rock salt (₹20-30/kg) - pure, unprocessed is best

* Bamboo pieces (₹20-₹50 each) around 10-12 inches long, with one end sealed

* Yellow clay or multani mitti - for sealing the bambo0

* A wood-fired kiln / metal furnace / desi chulha / tandoor oven

* Metal tongs & gloves for handling heat

* Crusher / mortar-pestle / grinder - to powder salt

Manufacturing Process:

Step 1: Fill Bamboo with Salt

* Fill cleaned bamboo tubes with rock salt tightly.

* Leave ~1 inch at top.

* Seal the top with clay/mud (make a thick paste and close the hole).

Step 2: Roast It (This Is The Key)

* Place the bamboo tubes in a wood fire /kiln / clay oven.

* Burn them at 800°C to 1000°C (approx, you can use visual temp from flame color).

* Roast for 1-1.5 hours.

Step 3: Cool & Crush

* After burning, bamboo will break and ash will remain.

* The salt will be infused with bamboo charcoal, minerals, and slightly melted.

* Break, collect, and grind the salt.
Repeat the Process (For 3x, 6x, or 9x Roast Salt):

* 3x roasted bamboo salt: Repeat the roasting 3 times (each time with new bamboo and resealing).

* 9x roasted bamboo salt: Repeat 9 times.

* Each roast increases the salt's alkalinity, mineral content, detox value, and market price.

How to Price It (2025 Market Rates):

You can produce around 3-4 batches of 250g bamboo salt, and even if sold at ₹500-₹1000 per pack (3x roasted), you can make 2x-4x profit.
